Willers, Rhonda. Terra Sigillata: Contemporary Techniques. Westerville, OH: The American Ceramic Society, 2019
3 works, “Enhancing the Surface of Terra Sigillata,” pg. 98-99.
Although the use of terra sigillata to color and seal wares is an ancient technique, it is still being actively explored and experimented with by today’s artists, with incredible work as a result! In her comprehensive and beautifully illustrated new book, Rhonda Willers explores the ways contemporary artists are pushing the boundaries of creativity with this fascinating material. Terra Sigillata: Contemporary Techniques features 12 "Process" sections with well-illustrated, step-by-step instruction on making, siphoning, and blending terra sigillatas, as well as profiles of contemporary artists and their terra sig techniques!
